Windfall Apples

Without any forward planning our week of learning revolved around apples.

We have a small apple tree in our back garden,  Undecided which variety they are or even if they are cooking or eating apples, however, they are falling...

Outdoors: The children have been collecting them in diggers and wheelbarrows, there have been some wonderful looking apple potions created in the mud kitchen.  Investigations with magnifying glasses, what do you think made that mark? one suggested "a bird's claw".

Indoors: We cut them in half to use as stamps with paint, looked at the star shape if we cut the apple across the middle. What colour are the pips? Why? Do you think this apple is ripe?

Dabbers were used to create apples for a bare tree.

We cored an apple to devise a science experiment with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda...not quite the apple-cano! I was hoping for, but fizzy enough to make an impression.  Using their senses: smell, touch, sight, hearing,  thankfully no tasting.

We read the Snow White story together with her poisoned apple.

Finally an apple and blackberry crumble was made.
